Hyland, Korth Earn Regular Season All-American Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association, formerly known as the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women, announced the 2019 Regular Season All-America teams on Wednesday. The group of honorees included decorated Kentucky duo Mollie Korth and Alex Hyland, who were already the only athletes bestowed the honor in UK history.
Beginning in 2013, the award is given to athletes who post the top 16 National Qualifying Scores in the nation across each event. Counting ties, the top eight performers are given first-team distinction, while the next eight are designated to the second team.
Korth, a junior, has been named a second-team Regular Season All-American in each of her three collegiate seasons. Her latest accolade came from a 9.910 NQS on vault, tied for the 12th-best mark in the country. She garnered the title for both her both vault and all-around performances in 2018, as well as for her showing on vault in 2017.
As a senior, Hyland makes her second appearance on the second team. At the end of this season, her 39.470 all-around finish placed 16th nationally. She qualified as a beam specialist in 2017.
