UKTF’s Faith Ross and Jacob Smith Pick up SEC Weekly Awards
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky track and field’s Faith Ross was named Southeastern Conference Women’s Runner of the Week, and Jacob Smith picked up Men’s Freshman of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Ross swept the hurdles events at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invite last weekend, winning the women’s 100m hurdles in 13.62 (-1.0) and the 400m hurdles in 57.38 — .02 off her PB. Her 400H time ranks second nationally through two weeks of the outdoor season and leads the SEC. Her 200m time ranks fifth nationally. She also ran on UK’s 4×1, which ranks fifth in the SEC.
Smith won the men’s 200m in 20.75w (+2.1), .01 ahead of sophomore Dwight St. Hillaire at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational. He’s tied for the overall lead in the conference and third nationally. Smith was top collegian in the 100m in 10.73 (-0.7).
