Kentucky wins 16 Events at Vandy Black & Gold Invite
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky track and field teams picked up 16 individual event wins at Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational this weekend.
Charles Lenford swept the men’s shot put and discus once again. He won the men’s shot put on Friday with a personal best mark 62’10.5″/19.16m moving to No. 6 on the UK outdoor all-time list. He won the discus on Saturday with a 8’6″ PB 186’1″/56.73m checking in at No. 9 on the UK all-time list.
Nicole Fautsch won the women’s shot put with an outdoor PB 52’2″/15.90m to move to No. 3 on the UK outdoor all-time list.
Molly Leppelmeier placed fourth in the SP and won the discus with a mark of 163’2″/49.73m Fautsch placed 15th in that event.
Carly Hinkle won the high jump leaping over the standard at a half-inch PB 5’11.25″/1.81m to move to No. 3 on the UK outdoor all-time list. Ellen Ekholm was runner-up clearing 5’9.25″/1.76m.
Abby Steiner swept the women’s 100m and 200m. She won the 100m in 11.32 moving to No. 8 on the UK all-time list while going into a -1.1 headwind. She won the 200m in 23.09 (+1.1).
Freshman Jacob Smith won the men’s 200m in 20.75w (+2.1), .01 ahead of sophomore Dwight St. Hillaire. Smith won the 100m in 10.73 (-0.7).
Faith Ross swept the hurdles events winning the women’s 100m hurdles in 13.62 (-1.0) and the 400m hurdles in 57.38 — .02 off her PB. Masai Russell was fourth in the 100m hurdles and second in the 400m hurdles.
Caleb Wilt won the men’s 110m hurdles in 14.44 (-2.3).
UK’s women’s 4x100m relay won in 44.56.
St. Hillaire won the men’s 400m in 46.06.
Marie-Josée Ebwea-Excel won the women’s triple jump with a mark at 43’4.25″/13.21m (+0.9).
Matt Peare won the men’s pole vault, clearing 17’0.75″/5.20m.
