Men's Tennis Drops Road Test at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 40 Kentucky (9-9, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) fell to No. 32 South Carolina (12-5, 2-4 SEC) 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Carolina Tennis Center.
 
The match began with the nation’s 63^rd-ranked doubles pair, Paul Jubb and Raphael Lambling, defeated UK’s Cesar Bourgois and Theo McDonald 6-1 on court one. The Gamecocks sealed the doubles point when Beau Pelletier and Daniel Rodrigues defeated Enzo Wallart and Ying-Ze Chen 6-4 on court three.
 
In singles play, the Wildcats recovered early momentum when Kento Yamada claimed his first set 6-3 over Lambling, but the sophomore ultimately fell 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4).
 
Jubb, ranked No. 5 in singles, defeated No. 36 Ryo Matsumura 6-3, 7-5 in the top singles slot, while his 93^rd-ranked teammate Rodrigues defeated No. 118 Enzo Wallart 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the competition’s only other ranked matchups.

Kentucky will return home next weekend, taking on No. 4 Florida on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
