UK to Host Central Michigan in Season’s Final Home Meet
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 12 Kentucky is set to wrap up its 2019 home slate on Friday versus No. 37 Central Michigan, airing live on SEC Network+ at 7 p.m. ET. The meet will serve as Kentucky’s annual senior night, honoring the most decorated class in school history.
The Wildcats enter Friday fresh off their first sub-197 showing in nearly a month, falling 196.250-196.000 at No. 16 Missouri last week. The loss followed a string of three straight 197-point outings that included wins over then-No. 5 LSU and No. 9 Alabama.
Junior Mollie Korth earned an outright individual victory on vault despite her team falling to the Tigers, scoring a 9.875. Seniors Alex Hyland and Sidney Dukes equaled Korth’s mark with a 9.875 each on beam, tying for the win on the event. The Cats finished Southeastern Conference play with a 3-4 record.
At the conclusion of Friday’s meet, Kentucky will honor the six athletes who comprise the most accomplished group to ever come through the program. Led by former All-Americans Hyland and Dukes, the senior class has contributed to every 197-point performance in UK history and led the team to its first ever appearance in the NCAA Championships last season.
With a quad meet scheduled at Nebraska alongside Boise State and Illinois State to end the regular season, Friday also marks Kentucky’s final dual meet of 2019. The all-time head-to-head series between the Chippewas and Wildcats is deadlocked at four wins apiece.
