Kentucky Hosts Middle Tennessee In Final Non-SEC Series
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The final weekend of non-conference play begins Friday afternoon as Kentucky hosts Middle Tennessee in a three-game series at Kentucky Proud Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on Friday and 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. All three games will be aired live on SEC Network Plus via WatchESPN. Audio coverage will be available on 98.5 FM Lexington and the UK Sports Network via UKathletics.com. A reminder to fans that Daylight Savings Time takes effect over the weekend so plan accordingly for Sunday’s game.
The Wildcats (8-4) have opened their new stadium by winning five of the first six games at Kentucky Proud Park. Included in the excitement of opening week was a four-run ninth-inning rally that produced a 5-4 walk-off win vs. Northern Kentucky and a weekend sweep of Canisius where the Cats scored 26 total runs.
Junior left-hander Zack Thompson will get the ball in the opener looking for his first decision in four starts. Thompson has struck out 28 batters and allowed just 11 hits in 15.2 innings this season and ranks 10th nationally in strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
Junior right-hander Grant Macciocchi moves into a weekend starter role after pitching lights out against Eastern Kentucky last week. He has struck out eight and allowed just one walk and two runs in 7.2 innings while posting a 1-0 record.
Freshman left-hander Dillon Marsh will start on Sunday coming off the first win of his collegiate career last weekend vs. Canisius where he pitched 5.0 innings, allowing three hits, two runs and striking out six.
