Kentucky Football: Christian Fiero Named SEC Video Coordinator of the Year

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Collegiate Sports Video Association named Christian Fiero, Coaching Video Coordinator for Football at the University of Kentucky, the 2018-2019 Southeastern Conference Video Coordinator of the Year.

Fiero was selected by a majority vote of his peers in the SEC to receive the Conference Video Coordinator of the Year honor. He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 15th, 2019 in Anaheim, California.

The Bob Matey award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M.

Fiero has spent five seasons as the football coaching video coordinator at Kentucky. He came to the Bluegrass in 2014 with more than seven years of experience. Four of those years came in the sports video department at Florida State University, where he served as the assistant director of video operations and football video coordinator. He was voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Video Coordinator of the Year by his peers in 2013. Before being promoted to assistant director, he was the coaches video assistant at FSU from 2010-11.

Fiero has been part of the Kentucky football staff that has steadily grown the program, with five wins in 2014 and ’15, seven wins and bowl appearances in 2016 and ’17, and capped by a historic 10-win season and VRBO Citrus Bowl championship in the 2018 season.

“Christian does an outstanding job for our program,” Coach Mark Stoops said. “He works extremely hard, is a great help to our coaches and is always looking for new ways to improve our video capabilities. He is very deserving of this award.”

Prior to moving to Tallahassee, Fla., he was the sports video graduate assistant at Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., for two seasons.

He received his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and electronic media in 2008 from Eastern Kentucky and was a student football video coordinator for the Colonels during the 2007-08 season.

Fiero has been an active member of the Collegiate Sports Video Association since 2008.

Fiero is a native of Midway, Ky. He is married to the former Brittany Bigham of Louisville, Ky., and they have one son, Frederick.
