Kentucky Hosts Ole Miss in Penultimate Home Match Thursday

by Chris Shoals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will host Ole Miss at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex on Thursday night in Lexington, in what will be UK’s penultimate home match of the 2018 season. The match will be carried live on the SEC Network+ and the ESPN app with Dave Baker (pxp) and Stuart Pope (color) on the call from the Bluegrass. Kick-off is 7:30 p.m. ET.

The injury-decimated Wildcats will be looking to snap a season-long eight-match losing streak at home, where three of its four wins have come from this season. Kentucky is 3-5-0 this season at The Bell.

Kentucky and Ole Miss are in a dead heat, at 11-11-1 all-time in the series history between the two sides. The two teams did not meet in 2017, as they missed each other in the SEC schedule rotation. The last match between Ole Miss and UK was on Oct. 1, 2016 in a monsoon, as Ole Miss took a 2-1 overtime win over the Wildcats. That was also the last meeting in Lexington.

Ole Miss is 9-6-1 on the season, and 3-3-1 in the league, fighting for a spot in Orange Beach. Channing Foster and CeCe Kizer form one of the best one-two punches in the SEC offensively, with Kizer leading the SEC in goals with 12 on the season, and Foster having scored in three of the Rebels last five matches.
