AUSTIN, Texas – Kentucky sophomore swimmer Asia Seidt was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large Third Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Seidt is just the fifth Wildcat in program history and the third in the Lars Jorgensen era to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, joining Beth Leake, Dave Tweedle, Abby Myers and Danielle Galyer.

A member of the U.S. National Team, Seidt added to her already long list of accomplishments in her second season in Lexington whilst maintaining a flawless 4.0 GPA. The Louisville, Ky., product earned First Team All-SEC honors for the second consecutive season to go along with a pair of first team All-America honors at the 2018 NCAA Championships.

The sophomore repeated as Southeastern Conference champion in the 200-yard backstroke, becoming the first-ever Kentucky swimmer to win back-to-back conference titles in a single event. Seidt also won the gold medal in the 100 back at the conference meet to become the first ever Wildcat to win an SEC title in the 100 back with a school-record time of 50.86. She rounded out her performance at the conference meet with a silver medal in the 200 IM. Her 92 points scored at the meet was the third-most in the field.

At the NCAA Championships, Seidt finished as national runner-up in the 200 back with a new school record of 1:49.27, as well as finishing seventh in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 back.

Heading into her junior campaign, Seidt is a five-time First Team All-American, two-time First Team All-SEC selection and three-time SEC champion.
