Paražinskaite Named to SEC Community Service Team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kentucky junior Akvile Paražinskaite has been named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference women’s tennis Community Service Team, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Each year, the community service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school to gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Although she was sidelined this season due to injury, Parazinskaite has continued to be active within the Lexington community this season.
Parazinskaite volunteered for the Read Across America program at a local elementary school, reading with children and helped pack backpacks for the UK Athletics Backpack Program. She was also a Louisiana Flood Relief Drive volunteer and volunteered at Breakfast with Santa, an annual event which raises money for Daniel’s Care, the children’s division of Hospice of the Bluegrass.
The junior has also participated in the Salvation Army bell ringing program, served meals at God’s Pantry, and Volunteered with CATS Cultivating Character.
Kentucky will be back in this week, beginning postseason play at the SEC Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee. The tournament will run Wednesday to Sunday, April 18-22. UK will open the event against Texas A&M on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
