Blue-White Spring Game Presented by Kroger Set for Friday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky football’s spring will conclude on Friday as the Wildcats play under the lights at Kroger Field for their annual Blue-White Spring Game presented by Kroger on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The spring game will feature a scored scrimmage with four 12-minute quarters and the offense (Blue Team) competing against the defense (White Team). Scoring rules are as follows.
Offense
Normal scoring with touchdown equaling six points, field goal equaling three points and extra point equaling one point. If the offense earns consecutive first downs to start a drive it will be awarded two points and one additional point for each first down earned after. However, if the offense finishes the drive with a touchdown or a made field goal those points override any points earned from first downs. For example, if the offense starts a drive with three consecutive first downs then punts, it will be awarded three points. However, if that same drive ends with a touchdown instead of a punt, the offense will receive only the points earned from the touchdown/extra point.
Defense
The defense can score normally with a fumble/interception return for a touchdown. Additional scoring for the defense is as follows:
- Force a turnover = 4 points
- 4th-down stop = 2 points
- Force offense to go three and out = 2 points
- Sack = 1 point
- Tackle for loss = 1 point
Special Teams
Field goal and extra points will be normal. There will be no kickoffs during Friday’s game. Punts will occur but will just be punter, snapper and returner with no return.
The game will last two hours and will be broadcast on the SEC Network. Tom Leach and Freddie Maggard – substituting for Jeff Piecoro – will call the game for the UK Sports Network’s radio broadcast with Dick Gabriel reporting from the sidelines.
