UKTF Continues on to UGA Spec Towns Invitational

by Jake Most

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky track and field program’s outdoor season carries on this weekend at the Georgia Spec Towns Invitational.

The meet has served as site for Tim Duckworth’s decathlon season debut the past few seasons, and the reigning NCAA heptathlon champion will open up at UGA once more this weekend.

A year ago, Duckworth finished with a lifetime personal best decathlon score: 7973 to place second at UGA’s meet. The score moved him to No. 7 on the United Kingdom all-time list, shattered his Kentucky school and personal record by a staggering 264 points.

The decathlon starts Friday at 11:45 a.m. ET.

Matt Peare is entered in the men’s pole vault coming off tying the UK freshman record last weekend at the Florida Relays.

UK senior Fred Dorsey III, an Atlanta native, will compete near his hometown in the long jump and 100m.

Saturday action begins at 9 a.m. with the 5k races, which will feature a trio of UK underclassmen.
