Go Big Blue 4 Miler Presented By Kroger Simple Truth on April 14
LEXINGTON, Ky. – With the Go Big Blue 4 Miler presented by Kroger Simple Truth fast approaching, the start time and prizes for the inaugural race on April 14 have been set. Registration is open at UKathletics.com/4miler.
The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. on April 14 outside Kroger Field. The path of the Go Big Blue 4 Miler will take runners and walkers through various UK Athletics facilities before ending on the playing surface at Kroger Field.
The top men’s finisher and top women’s finisher will each receive $150 Kroger gift cards, while second-place finishers will each receive $100 Kroger gift cards and third-place finishers will receive $50 Kroger gift cards. The top three men’s and women’s finishers as well as age group winners will also receive a complimentary ticket to Kentucky football’s home opener vs. Central Michigan and a complimentary ticket to the 2018 edition of Big Blue Madness. Overall and age group winners will receive medals recognizing their finishes as well.
The Go Big Blue 4 Miler will be a chip-timed race and all participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. K Fund members who participate are also eligible to receive 20 bonus priority points. Registration is open now at UKathletics.com/4miler for $30 for the first 500 participants to sign up. Registration will be $40 for participants beyond the first 500. Walking participants are able to register at the same price. All UK Athletics season ticket holders will be eligible for a $5 discount. Details about the discount have been emailed to season ticket holders.
The Go Big Blue 4 Miler will begin outside Kroger Field, with runners proceeding through the practice fields at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility and past in-progress construction on Kentucky baseball’s new stadium. Participants will then move through the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex and John Cropp Stadium before going across campus through Cliff Hagan Stadium and the Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility. The race will finish at one goal line at Kroger Field.
Children will be able to participate in the Junior Wildcat Club Kids Race for $15, an untimed dash that will finish on the playing surface at Kroger Field. Participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Current members of the Junior Wildcat Club will be eligible for a $5 discount. Details on the discount have been emailed to Junior Wildcat Club members.
The Go Big Blue 4 Miler presented by Kroger Simple Truth is part of the ongoing comprehensive partnership between UK and Kroger announced last year. Along with the Kroger Fields Community Program, the race is part of the community outreach effort UK and Kroger are making as part of the agreement. Both UK Athletics and Kroger will have active presences at the race.
UK HealthCare, the official healthcare partner of UK Athletics, will provide on-site medical care for the Go Big Blue 4 Miler.
