Mollie Korth Named 2018 Regular Season All-America
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore Mollie Korth of the Kentucky gymnastics team was named a 2018 Regular Season All-American, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced on Wednesday. Korth earned second team All-America honors in all-around and vault.
She concluded the regular season with an all-around 39.475 regional qualifying score, good for 14th in the country. Korth averaged a 39.225 in the all-around, and competed in all four events at every meet but one this season. Her high of 39.625 this season tied her career best and is the second highest all-around score from a Wildcat behind eight-time NCAA National Champion Jenny Hansen.
The Cambridge, Wisconsin native finished 15th in the nation on the vault, earning her All-America distinction. Korth scored a season-high 9.95 in the event and had an RQS of 9.9.
This is the sixth year the NACGC/W has presented regular season All-America awards. The top eight gymnasts on each event and in the all-around ranked by RQS earn first team honors. The next eight (9-16) on each event and the all-around receive second team honors.
Korth, along with Alex Hyland, were a NACGC/W Regular Season All-Americans last season and are the only two to win the award in program history. Jenny Hansen, Robin Ewing, Aronda Primault, Sidney Dukes, Hyland and Korth have been named postseason All-America.
Kentucky will compete at the NCAA Minneapolis Regional on Saturday, April 7 at 5 p.m. ET. UK is a two seed in the event and will face Oklahoma, Denver, Minnesota, Iowa and Iowa State in the regional. The top two teams from the region will advance to the Super Regional on April 20 in St. Louis.
