Euler, Mehles Earn Top-10 Finishes to Lead UK to Third at Hootie
Final Results
AWENDAW, S.C. – Junior Lukas Euler posted a career-low score en route to a runner-up finish, while freshman Max Mehles claimed his second-career top-10 finish to lead the Kentucky men’s golf team to a third-place showing at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.
Euler carded a career-low 67 during Tuesday’s final round to move into second place overall and tied his best career finish on the individual leaderboard. His 205 combined score is the second-lowest of the season for any Wildcat and tops his previous career low of 209 set earlier this season. Euler finished the tournament at 11-under par. The Dieburg, Germany, native’s 205 is tied for the third-lowest individual total in the Brian Craig era.
Mehles tied for sixth, bettering his career-best finish of a tie for seventh to help lead Kentucky to its seventh top-five finish of the season and the fourth inside of the top three. He shot a combined effort of 6-under par, including back-to-back rounds of 69 over the final two days.
“I am so proud of this group,” Craig said. “We are making great strides and played some terrific golf this week. Lukas Euler and Max Mehles led the way this week, but all of the guys contributed. We are close to rolling and I can’t wait to compete again.”
Kentucky’s 12-under par, 276, is the second-lowest final round of the season for the Blue and White. It tied for the third-lowest round on the course on Tuesday. Ole Miss captured the team crown behind a tournament-low 269 on the final day of play. Kent State edged out the Cats by two shots for second. Iowa State finished 11 strokes back of Kentucky, while Missouri rounded out the top five.

Euler capped his stellar weekend with a runner-up finish for the second time this season. He has notched three combined top-five finishes and has a team-high seven finishes inside of the top 20. The 67 on the final day tied his career-low which he set earlier this season at the Bearcat Invitational’s second round.
UK’s junior, who owns the squad’s lowest stroke average on the season, has combined to shoot 17 par-or-better rounds, including all three this week.
His final round featured a tournament-high seven birdies. He was simply sensational on the front nine carding a 5-under score with red numbers on the second, fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth. He pushed his score to 7-under with birdies on par-five 10th and the par-three 12th. Despite some adversity with a pair of bogeys down the stretch, Euler easily turned in the most prolific tournament of his career.

Mehles enjoyed the most consistent week of his career with all three rounds coming in at or under par, including consecutive rounds of 3-under par. Four of his last six rounds played have been par or better. The redshirt freshman has finished inside of the top 10 in two of his last three tournaments with this week’s sixth place earning him a new career-best finish. His combined score of 210 also betters his previous low by three shots. Mehles played the opening nine at 1-under, before getting to 2-under with a masterful back nine.
Senior Cooper Musselman tied for 19th to earn his fifth top-20 finish of the season and the 19th of his career. Musselman scored a 2-under, 70, during Tuesday’s round. His round was highlighted by a 4-under score over the opening nine holes of play including red numbers on back-to-back holes on the sixth and seventh.
Junior Fred Allen Meyer and senior Chip McDaniel tied for 35th overall. Meyer shot a 74 on the final day, while McDaniel had a 2-under score. Both players registered five birdies on the day.
