Wildcats Post Two Top 20 Finishes on First Day NCAA Championships
MINNEAPOLIS – The Kentucky men’s swimming and diving team completed its first day of action at the 2018 Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday in Minneapolis, posting two top finishes along the way.
Senior Isaac Jones kicked off Kentucky’s action at the meet in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing 17th overall with a time of 4:15.26 – just one spot and .28 seconds off a second swim.
In the 1-meter diving prelims, both sophomore Kevin Frebel and junior Seb Masterton saw action. Masterton was the Wildcats’ highest finisher, placing 19th with a score of 325.55. Frebel came in 42nd with a 256.05 mark.
The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow, with Jones competing in the 200 free and Masterton on 3-meter springboard.
Each day of the meet follows a set schedule of swimming prelims at 11 a.m. ET, diving prelims at 1:15 p.m. and the finals beginning at 7 p.m. each evening.
