Marie-Josée Ebwea-Bile Named SEC Athlete of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky track and field junior Marie-Josée Ebwea-Bile was named Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after she began her season with a nation-leading triple jump at the weekend.
The reigning NCAA outdoor triple jump silver medalist opened up with a wind-legal outdoor personal best 44’3.25″/13.49 meters (-0.8) at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational.
Her mark leads the NCAA. She took bronze at the SEC Championships last month and placed sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships two weeks ago.
Ebwea-Bile has an indoor personal best of 45’1.75″/13.76m, which she recorded this past indoor season. That mark is the absolute (indoor and outdoor) school record.
She took bronze at the Southeastern Conference Championships last month and placed sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend.
Ebwea-Bile took NCAA silver last June with a wind-assisted 44’11.00″/13.69mw (+2.6) at NCAAs last season.
Prior to this season, notably, 2018 PyeongChang skeleton Winter Olympian for Nigeria Simidele Adeagbo held both the indoor and outdoor school records.
She was named SEC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week the first weekend of the outdoor season last year as well.
