Kentucky Sends Six to NCAA Zone C Diving Championships
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six Kentucky divers are set to compete at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, March 8-10 inside the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Hosted by Ohio State University, the event is the lone opportunity for divers to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
On the men’s side, Seb Masterton, Chase Lane and Kevin Frebel will compete on all three disciplines, while Stephen Jou will complete only on the 3-meter springboard. For the women, junior Courtney Clark will compete in all three events, while Emma Dellmore will be in action on both springboards.
The top 18 scorers from each opening round will advance to the finals, with the scores carrying over. The number of automatic qualifiers varies for each event/gender, and can be seen below. Additionally, if an individual qualifies in one event and finishes in the top-12 of another, he/she will be permitted to compete in the additional event at the NCAA Championships.
To qualify for the Zone Championships, divers must have recorded zone qualifying scores throughout the season. Divers competing in Zone C hail from all Division I institutions in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan.
The complete list of divers selected to compete in the national championships will be released Sunday, March 11.
The women’s NCAA Championships will also be held in the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion from March 14-17, while the men’s NCAA Championships will be contested in Minneapolis from March 21-24.
