LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend, traveling east to face a pair of Ivy League opponents in Princeton and Columbia. The Wildcats will face off against Columbia on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday. Both matches are set for a noon ET start.

Kentucky (4-2) is coming off its first ranked win of the season, having defeated No. 16 Baylor, 4-1, on Feb. 4. In the win over the Bears, UK earned the doubles point and won the top three courts in straight sets. On court one, junior Justina Mikulskyte earned a ranked win over No. 98 Theresa Van Zyl, 6-3, 6-1. UK has one ranked doubles team in No. 28 Emily Fanning/Mami Adachi and one ranked singles player in No. 66 Akvile Parazinskaite.

Columbia (5-2) most recently took down Penn, 4-3, on Feb. 11 as part of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament. Last season the Wildcats defeated Columbia 4-0, and UK leads the all-time series between the two teams 3-0.

Princeton is undefeated this season at 6-0, including an impressive 4-2 victory over No. 12 Auburn on Feb. 4. The Tigers are coming off their first-ever ECAC title by defeating Dartmouth, 4-1. Princeton’s roster features two ranked singles players in No. 81 Stephanie Schrage and No. 100 Katrine Steffensen. Kentucky downed Princeton 4-0 last season, and owns a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series.

The Wildcats will return home Feb. 23 for a double header with Arizona State and Eastern Kentucky. Kentucky will face the Sun Devils at noon, and the Colonels at 6 p.m. The latter match will serve as UK’s non-conference finale as Southeastern Conference action begins March 2 vs. Alabama.
