No. 3 UK hosts No. 16 Memphis in Final Home Match of Regular Season
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The third-ranked Kentucky rifle team will host conference opponent No. 16 Memphis in its final home match of the regular season on Saturday inside the Buell Armory and Barker Hall at 8:15 a.m. ET with sighters and prep beginning at 8.
Fans can follow the match with live targets.
“It’ll be nice being back home on our own range,” head coach Harry Mullins said. “Training has been going well, and this match will be a good test for our team without the top shooter – in relation to numbers – in the lineup. We saw success without Hanna (Carr) at West Point and we get her back again this week – we would like to see that success continue through this weekend against a good Memphis team.”
Memphis will enter the Buell Armory for the first time since the 2015-16 season. The Wildcats have finished higher than the Tigers in every event this season, the most recent in last week’s matchup – the Withrow Invitational – marked UK with a 4696-4646 advantage.
The Wildcats are coming off a first-place finish at the Withrow Invitational, their third placement in the top slot in multi-team events. Freshman Henrik Larsen has finished in first place in every event to date and holds the highest aggregate average (1189.6) and smallbore average (593.1) in the country. He ranks fourth among collegians in air rifle at 596.5.
Hailee Sigmon has been making her mark and a big impact, posting two new career-high scores in air rifle in the last two outings and helping the Cats reach their second-highest air rifle score of the season on the West Point trip. Junior Hanna Carr is back in action after missing some time to injury, but she’ll look to gain off a solid 591 in air rifle during her return posting at the Withrow.
