CLEMSON, S.C. – The Kentucky track and field teams picked up four event wins on Saturday to go along with four from Friday at this weekend’s Clemson Invitational.

Jacob Thomson broke a long-held Kentucky 3,000-meter record to win in a nation-leading 7:53.87. That was a 10-second personal best, and also broke the facility record.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, whose NCAA-leading 8.00 60m hurdles time was Friday’s highlight, set the track on fire once again on Saturday.

The reigning Southeastern Conference short hurdles champion continued her strong form to start the season by winning the 200m in 23.27, and she wasn’t done.

She turned in a quick third leg (52.24) on UK’s second-place 4x400m relay, which ran a time of 3:31.65.

Only race winner Florida has run faster this year, and the time ranks No. 3 in UK history. Faith Ross led off in 54.50, before freshman sensation Sydney McLaughlin scorched to competition with a 50.96 leg (at quick glance the fastest by any collegian so far this young season). Kayelle Clarke anchored UK in 53.96.

Ian Jones won the 800m in a solid 1:50.36.

Tim Duckworth won his first heptathlon of the year scoring a nation-leading 6071.

Aso notably, Dwight St. Hillaire placed second to an All-American in the 200m. His time of 20.73 broke the Kentucky freshman record and ranks seventh on the UK all-time performers list.

Katy Kunc placed third in the women’s 3k in 9:26.38.

UK’s men’s 4x400m relay of Fred Dorsey, St. Hillaire, EJ Floreal and Daniel Roberts placed fourth in 3:08.33.

Matthew Peare was runner-up in the men’s pole vault, clearing 16’8.75″/5.10m.

Marie-Josée Ebwea-Bile was third in the triple jump with a mark of 44’4.75″/13.53m.

Clemson, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, J.C. Smith, Penn State, Purdue and Virginia Tech were the teams at the meet.

The Kentucky women’s team is ranked No. 9 in the preseason USTFCCCA rankings, while the men’s team is ranked 18th.
