Kentucky WBB Receiving Votes in AP, Coaches’ Preseason Top 25
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program is receiving votes in both The Associated Press Preseason Top 25 and USA Today/Coaches’ Preseason Top 25, marking the eighth straight season the Wildcats have been ranked or receiving votes in both major preseason rankings.
Kentucky, which is entering its 11th season under head coach Matthew Mitchell, will have a chance to move up the rankings all season long as it is currently scheduled to play 16 games against teams either ranked or receiving votes in either poll, including six games against preseason top-10 teams.
In the AP Top 25, UK is scheduled to play at No. 3 Baylor, two games vs. No. 4 South Carolina, two games vs. No. 7 Mississippi State, vs. No. 9 Louisville, No. 14 Tennessee, at No. 16 Missouri, at No. 20 Texas A&M and vs. No. 20 California. UK is also scheduled to play Miami (Fla.), LSU, Florida and Alabama, who are each receiving votes in the listing.
In the Coaches’ Top 25, UK will play two games vs. No. 2 South Carolina, at No. 3 Baylor, two games vs. No. 4 Mississippi State, vs No. 10 Louisville, at No. 16 Missouri, vs. No. 18 Tennessee, vs. No. 24 Miami (Fla.) and vs. No. 25 California. The Wildcats also have games against Texas A&M, LSU, Florida Gulf Coast and Middle Tennessee, who are all receiving votes in the poll.
Kentucky plays hosts to Southern Indiana on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET inside Memorial Coliseum for its lone exhibition game of the season. UK will officially open its season on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET against Sacramento State. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+, and all games this season will be broadcast on the UK Sports Radio Network with Darren Headrick calling the action.
Single-game tickets to all 16 Kentucky women’s basketball home games for the 2017-18 season are on sale now through ticketmaster.com.
Single-game tickets are $9 (all ages) in reserved seating areas, while general admission tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children (ages 6-18) and seniors (age 65+). Children ages 5 and under do not require a ticket in general admission areas.
New season ticket purchases are also available online at ukathletics.com/tickets. Fans can also call (800) 928-2287 or visit the UK Ticket Office in person. The UK Ticket Office is located inside the Joe Craft Center at 338 Lexington Ave.
Purchasing season tickets offers the best option and price savings for fans. New season ticket purchases are available in upper-level reserved chairbacks (sections AA-JJ), lower-level reserved bleachers (sections R-Z) or general admission bleachers (sections RR-ZZ) for $65 per ticket. Lower-level reserved chairbacks (A-J) sections are sold out again this season.
Special ticket pricing is available to groups attending Kentucky women’s basketball games this season. Group rates are exclusively available by calling the UK Ticket Office at (800) 928-2287 in advance of the game. Group rates may not be available within 7 days of the game and other restrictions may apply. For games held in Memorial Coliseum, the group rate is $4 per ticket for groups of 20+ and $3 per ticket for groups of 50+ in general admission seating areas. For games held in Rupp Arena, the group rate is $4 per ticket for groups of 20+ and $3 per ticket for groups of 50+ in the reserved or general admission seating areas.
University of Kentucky faculty and staff members are able to show their UK Faculty/Staff ID to gain free admission for themselves and one guest for single games, in the general admission areas, based on availability. Free admission does not apply for postseason events.
UK will also be offering Birthday Party packages, which are $125 for up to 10 children (additional children are $9 each and additional adults are $4). Parties include game tickets for 10 children and five adults, as well as 10 children’s meal vouchers and women’s basketball posters. There’s a special gift for the birthday child, as well as a PA announcement, scoreboard recognition, and fun for everyone. Birthday parties are not available for games at Rupp Arena.
