Day One Results

CARMEL, Ind. –  After winning its opening two events, the Kentucky men’s golf team once again is in the hunt after two rounds of play at the Crooked Stick Invitational on Monday. The Wildcats fired a combined 2-under par score after 36 holes of play behind the play of senior Cooper Musselman.

UK enters day two six shots off of Purdue’s pace and just one stroke back of second-place Georgia.

Musselman fired back-to-back rounds of 2-under, 70, for a 4-under combined score. He is tied for third on the individual leaderboard and is looking for his third-consecutive top-10 finish to begin the season. All five Wildcats registered a counted round on the day in the full-team effort.

The final round of play will begin at 9 a.m. ET at the esteemed Crooked Stick Golf Club.

Player Roundup

Musselman was sensational for the Cats through the opening two rounds. He is a mere stroke off the leader’s pace and is in the hunt for what would be his first collegiate victory. The Louisville, Kentucky, native began the day with four birdies during his opening round, accumulating a pair on both the front and back nines of play. He was a stroke better on the front nine during the second round with three red numbers to aide his cause.

Junior Lukas Euler carded rounds of 73 and 72 and sits in a tie for 18th with 18 holes to play. He is in search of his third-consecutive top-20 finish to begin the season. Euler had two birdies during the opening round of play, and three during the second round.

Senior Chip McDaniel began the day by firing an uncharacteristic 77. He combated that performance with a squad-low 69 during the second set of 18 holes. McDaniel shot up the leaderboard by 20 spots to move into a tie for 21st overall. He opened his second round with a triple-bogey before responding with six birdies to close out his day over the final 17 holes.

Junior Fred Allen Meyer matched McDaniel’s tie for 21st after the opening day of action. Meyer had rounds of 72 and 74. Three birdies over the final seven holes of play highlighted his opening round even-par score.

Freshman Jacob Cook turned in the two best rounds of his young career. He scored a 74 during the opening 18 holes and a 75 during the second round. Both scores would have topped any of his previous collegiate rounds, with the 74 becoming a new career low. He is tied for 39th heading into the final day.
