LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team will travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, this weekend, to compete at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships presented by Oracle. All six will compete in the main draw singles and doubles brackets.

Hosted by Middle Tennessee State at the Adams Tennis Center, the tournament begins Thursday and culminates with championship rounds on Monday, Oct. 16.

Last season, Kentucky swept the regional titles as Justina Mikulskyte and Lesedi Jacobs teamed up to earn the doubles crown, while Aldila Sutjiadi won the singles competition.

In doubles, Mami Adachi and Akvile Parazinskaite earned the No. 1 seed, while Jacobs and Mikulskyte have the No. 3 overall seed. Both will have a first round bye. Senior Emily Fanning and freshman Isabel Iglesias Prieto will take on Northern Kentucky’s Margita Sunjic/Maria Koo at 9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.

In singles competition, four Wildcats will have first-round byes. Jacobs will be the first to see singles action, taking on EKU’s Kristina Lagoda at 2:30 p.m., while Iglesias Prieto will face Miami (Ohio)’s Priyana Kalita at 3 p.m.

The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which will be held in Indian Wells, California, Nov. 1-5.
