LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky is set to tee off at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on Monday at the University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Cats will make their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Brian Craig. The top five teams from all six regionals will make up the field at the NCAA Championships.
What head coach Brian Craig is saying:
“This is the most fun tournament of the year. If you are a competitor, this is what you love. We are ready to play and will do our best to represent the Big Blue Nation with excellence this week.”
About the lineup:
This week’s regional lineup will feature senior Stephen Stallings, juniors Cooper Musselman and Tyler “Chip” McDaniel, and sophomores Lukas Euler and Fred Allen Meyer. The same lineup that represented the Wildcats at the Southeastern Conference Championship.
The Wildcats will look to improve on their 11th place finish at the SEC Championship. McDaniel and Musselman finished in the top 25 among individuals for the second consecutive year. In their final rounds of the championship, Stallings and Euler both rebounded nicely to shoot 68 – their best scores of the season.
McDaniel, a native of Manchester, Kentucky, paced the Wildcats with seven top-20 finishes and four top-10 finishes this season. Musselman also has four top-10 finishes to his credit and six top-20 finishes. One of the two led the team in all but two events this season – when Meyer played his best at the General Hackler Championship and the Hootie at Bulls Bay. Stallings, McDaniel, and Musselman have also started every tournament of the 2016-17 season.
The Tournament Field:
The 14-team regional features two other teams from the SEC in LSU and Arkansas. The remainder of the field includes Oregon, Virginia, Duke, Northwestern, Jacksonville, South Florida, Iowa, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Loyola (MD) and Alabama State.
The field is highlighted by host school No. 6 LSU and No. 7 Oregon and includes three other teams ranked in the top 30.
In the NCAA Regional, the Wildcats placed fourth in 2016 and 2014, 10th in 2013, ninth in 2009, 17th in 2008, 10th in 2006, fourth in 2005, first in 2004 and sixth in 2003.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals to be played May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

Designed and overseen by PGA Champion David Toms and Jim Lipe, the University Club provides a test for the some of the best golfers in the country at a long 7,700 yards. This week, the course will play at just over 7,300 yards and Par 72.
