Kentucky to Compete at Jesse Owens Track & Field Classic

Columbus, Ohio – The Kentucky track and field teams will compete at the Jesse Owens Classic in the athletics legend’s namesake stadium this weekend.
More than 30 teams will compete including the host, Michigan State, Michigan, Cincinnati and a plethora of others.
Friday’s action will begin with the women’s hammer throw at 2 p.m. ET and distance events on the track will start at 7 p.m. ET. Saturday will get started with the men’s pole vault at 10 a.m. and track events are slated to go off at noon.
The Kentucky women’s team is ranked No. 3 and the men’s team is ranked No. 22 in this week’s USTFCCCA Computer Rankings.
Kentucky has just middle distance and distance runners entered this weekend so UK’s Friday won’t start until 7 p.m.
UK had competitors at the Texas Invitational last weekend, and will send another diverse group to Baton Rouge next weekend to contest the Southeastern Conference Relays, being held a fortnight before the SEC Championships.
UK’s women’s team won the LSU Relays – the SEC Relays predecessor – a year ago.
