UKTF Off and Running at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – Field events shined on Friday at the Texas Invitational at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Marie-Josée Ebwea-Bile placed second in the Texas Invitational triple jump with an outdoor season-best 43’7.75”/13.30m (+1.4). That moved her to No. 2 on the UK all-time performers list
Brandi Walker tossed a four-inch personal best 193’6″/58.99m to place fourth in the hammer throw. 
David Cline placed eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 205’8″/62.68m. 
Ethan Shalaway placed fourth in the men’s javelin with a mark of 210’07”/64.18m.
Sarah Blake placed seventh in the women’s javelin.
Not to be overshadowed UK had two scoring finishes in the 3k steeplechase – the lone track events UK had entries in on Friday. 
Gabe Harm placed second in the men’s 3k steeplechase in 9:12.24. Amy Hansen was fourth in the women’s race (10:54.29).
The meet is being scored in standard NCAA format: a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis corresponding to top-eight finishes. Most of the teams entered are not fielding full teams, and not all are doubling athletes who may be expected to at championship competitions.
Kentucky is tied for sixth with 14 points in the men’s competition. The UK women’s team is third with 21 points through five of 20 events.
Saturday’s program begins at 11 a.m. ET with the men’s discus. The first running event – the 1,500m – is set to start at 11:45 a.m.
Admission to the meet is free.
The Kentucky women’s team is ranked No. 3 in the nation this week, while the UK men’s team is ranked No. 23. Host Texas is ranked No. 9 on both the men’s and women’s sides.
Other ranked teams competing at the Texas Invitational are Auburn’s No. 19 men’s team and No. 25 women’s team.
