Hyland, Korth to Represent Kentucky at National Championships

ST. LOUIS – The Kentucky gymnastics program will be represented at the NCAA National Championships for the fourth-straight season as freshman Mollie Korth and sophomore Alex Hyland will compete in the all-around at the event. Both will compete in the meet’s second session beginning at 8 p.m. ET inside the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis.
The first hour of the meet will air live on ESPNU, with Bart Conner, Kathy Johnson Clarke and Laura Rutledge on the call. At 9 p.m. ET, the main broadcast will switch to ESPN, while an all-around broadcast will still be available on ESPNU. The meet will also stream live on the WatchESPN app.
Both Korth and Hyland finished with all-around scores of 39.300 at the NCAA Seattle Regional and qualified for the National Championships in the all-around. Korth is the 15th different individual to qualify for the NCAA championships in program history, while Hyland qualified for the event last season as well. Korth led Kentucky with 19 event titles throughout the season. Hyland led on beam with 11 event titles, including the SEC beam title.
The 2017 NCAA Gymnastics National Championships marks the sixth time in Kentucky’s history that the team has sent two all-around competitors to the championships in the same season. UK also achieved this feat last season.
Korth will compete in the same rotation as LSU, and will be joined by Denelle Pedrick from Central Michigan. Hyland will compete with Michigan.
Korth will start with a bye before heading to the Floor to begin the meet. She will compete on the vault before a bye, and finish the meet on bars and beam.
Hyland, along with the Wolverines, will begin with a bye before heading to bars. She will go to the balance beam before another bye, head to the floor and then finish on vault.
