UK Track and Field Set for Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – Kentucky will continue the outdoor track and field season by sending a strong and diverse, in terms of events contested, group to the Texas Invitational at Mike A. Myers Stadium this weekend.
The meet will begin on Friday at 3 p.m. ET with the hammer throw. Field events will run until the men’s javelin starts at 7 p.m., while running events – only the 5,000 meters and 3k steeplechase on Friday – will get under way at 7:30 p.m. with the last steeplechase set to begin at 9 p.m.
Saturday’s fuller program begins at 11 a.m. with the men’s discus. The first running event – the 1,500m – is set to start at 11:45 a.m.
Admission to the meet is free.
The Kentucky women’s team is ranked No. 3 in the nation this week, while the UK men’s team is ranked No. 23. Host Texas is ranked No. 9 on both the men’s and women’s sides.
Other ranked teams competing at the Texas Invitational are Auburn’s No. 19  men’s team and No. 25 women’s team.
