KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The outdoor track and field team continues this weekend at the Tennessee Relays.
The meet started Thursday evening with men’s and women’s hammer throw.
David Cline tied his personal best mark: 206-feet/62.80 meters, which makes him the No. 3 performer in school history, to place fourth in the men’s hammer throw to highlight Thursday’s competition.
Two more days ahead
The meet will be streamed live via SEC Network+ on WatchESPN/ESPN3 during broadcast windows on Friday and Saturday. The Friday broadcast will run from 3 p.m. until 7:40 p.m. on Friday. Saturday’s competition, in which Wildcats will only compete in the men’s discus, will be shown from noon until 4 p.m.
The meet features three top-25 men’s teams and five ranked women’s teams.
The lion’s share of competition featuring Wildcats will go down on Friday. Throwers and distance runners make up most of Kentucky’s entries, while UK will have a few entries in 400-meter races.
Bulldog Decathlon Weekend Preview
Elsewhere Tim Duckworth is set to contest his first decathlon of the season at Georgia’s Bulldog meet. Originally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, the decathlon was rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday to avoid bad midweek weather in that part of the country as golf fans the world over have seen in recent days.
A year ago Duckworth recorded a then-PR and the school record: 7585 while competing in the nationally-elite Bulldog Decathlon. He used that performance as a springboard to fourth place at the SEC Championships, and then second-team All-America honors. He earned NCAA silver in the indoor heptathlon last month.
