Kentucky Men’s Tennis Heads to LSU, Texas A&M to Continue SEC Play

Baton Rouge, La. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team will hit the road this weekend to continue Southeastern Conference play when UK heads to LSU and Texas A&M. The match with LSU will take place on Friday, March 10 at 6 p.m. and the Cats will face the Aggies on Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m.
Last weekend, the Wildcats split the opening weekend of SEC play, sweeping Tennessee 4-0 and falling to Georgia, 4-3. Kentucky is now 10-5 this season and 1-1 in league play. In the match with Georgia, junior Will Bushamuka and sophomore Ryo Matsumura both earned ranked wins. Bushamuka defeated No. 30 Wayne Montgomery, 6-3, 6-4 and Matsumura beat No. 38 Emil Reinberg in a marathon match at 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5).
LSU is 2-8 overall and 0-2 in league play, but comes off a tight 4-3 loss at No. 13 Florida. Jordan Daigle of LSU earned a big victory over No. 6 Alfredo Perez, 7-5, 6-2 on Sunday and is the Tigers’ No. 1 singles player. All three of the top singles players for LSU earned wins over Florida, but the Gators grabbed the doubles point and wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
Texas A&M is 7-3 and a perfect 2-0 in the SEC, and is currently riding a six-match winning streak. Last weekend, TAMU defeated South Carolina, 5-2 and Florida, 4-3 on the road. The Aggies will welcome Vanderbilt before taking on the Wildcats.
After this weekend, the Wildcats will return home to take on Auburn on Thursday, March 16 at 6 p.m. inside the Boone Tennis Center
