The meet will also air as part of a two-hour show on ESPN on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. The broadcast talent includes Dwight Stones, Larry Rawson, Jill Montgomery and John Anderson.
The Kentucky women’s team enters the SEC Championships at No. 6 in this week’s  U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings.
This weekend’s Championships again figure to be the nation’s most hotly contested conference meet as total of 15 SEC men’s and women’s teams are included in the latest USTFCCCA Rankings released Monday.
A nation-leading seven SEC men’s teams are ranked, including four of the top-five. Florida and Arkansas are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, Georgia is No. 4, Texas A&M is No. 5, LSU is No. 8, Alabama is No. 9 and Tennessee is No. 12. No other conference has more than five men’s teams ranked in the top-25.
A nation-best eight SEC women’s teams are ranked in the top-25, including seven of the top-11. Arkansas is No. 2, Georgia is No. 3, LSU is No. 4, Kentucky is No. 6, Alabama is No. 9, Texas A&M is No. 10, Florida is No. 11 and Ole Miss is No. 13. No other conference has more than six women’s teams ranked in the top-25.
SEC men’s and women’s track and field athletes lead the nation in 17 individual events entering this weekend’s SEC Indoor Championships.
The Wildcats boast a deep team across the board and figure to factor competitively in multiple events, but a superficial look at entries would pinpoint a few to watch.
Chief among them on Friday will be the women’s long jump, which will pit at the top UK’s 2015 SEC Champion Sha’Keela Saunders against 2016 SEC and NCAA Champion Quanesha Burks. This being the SEC a stable of plenty capable and accomplished jumpers – including 2016 Olympic triple jump fourth-placer Keturah Orji – also figure to have a say in the outcome.
In the women’s 60m Javianne Oliver’s 7.18 at the McCravy Memorial in January leads the SEC, and ranks second nationally. But defending champion Mikiah Brisco (LSU) ran 7.19 earlier this year. Oliver was third to Briscoe in the final last year.
On the men’s side Tim Duckworth ranks No. 2 in the heptathlon with a 6,000-point plus performance in February. He will focus on his top events – the individual long jump, high jump and pole vault this weekend.
Nick Anderson is running faster 60m hurdles times than ever this season, and will put his form to the test in a stacked starting with prelims on Friday.
Arkansas won the men’s and women’s SEC Indoor titles last season.
The Kentucky women’s team was sixth (48 points) last season and the men’s team was 11th (32 points) at the SEC Indoor Championships.
Kentucky’s best-ever SEC indoor women’s finish was third with 92 points in 1989. The UK men’s team’s best SEC indoor finish was second in 1960.
The Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility is playing host to the SEC Championships for the first time. The facility opened in 2013.
Tickets can be purchased through the Vanderbilt ticket office. They will be available for sale on location one hour prior to the first competition of each day. Ticket prices are $15 for general admission (single session) and $5 for students/seniors (65+) and youth (2-12).
