No. 6 Kentucky Welcomes No. 2 LSU to Memorial Coliseum

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After another record-breaking performance of 197.100 in
the win over No. 11 Auburn, the No. 6 Kentucky gymnastics team (2-1, 1-1 SEC)
returns to Memorial Coliseum to face another highly ranked Southeastern
Conference opponent. The Wildcats will face No. 2 LSU (3-0, 2-0 SEC) at 7 p.m.,
and will be shown live on SEC Network+.
Freshman Mollie Korth stood out once again for the Wildcats, posting a
39.450 in the all-around while taking her third crown in just her third meet.
The Wildcats have four wins against LSU. Kentucky’s last win came in
2011, when UK took down LSU 195.575 -192.950 inside Memorial Coliseum in 2011.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
LSU is the No. 2 in the country after three strong performances to start
the season. Last weekend, the Tigers put up a 197.475 against Texas Women’s
University. LSU is the best vault team in the nation, averaging a 49.483. Myia
Hambrick is the top all-arounder for the Tigers, averaging a 39.857. Her high
is a 39.600.
LOOKING AHEAD: BALL STATE
Ball State currently sits atop the Mid-American Conference with an
average score of 194.250. The Cardinals posted a season best 194.950 on the
road last weekend when they took on NC State and William & Mary. Ball
State’s best event is vault, where they average a 48.675.
ANOTHER BEST SCORE EVER
In front of a sold out Memorial Coliseum, Kentucky posted a 197.100, a
program best, in the win over No. 11 Auburn. UK had just posted a 196.950, a
previous season high, the weekend before at Florida.
HIGH SCORING ROTATIONS
Individual rotations had record nights as well against No. 11 Auburn.
Kentucky shined on the floor, posting a 49.525 as a team, good for the second
highest score ever. UK did the same on beam, putting up a 49.425, also the
second highest ever. Bars, at 49.225, was the fourth best in school history.
SECOND FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK AWARD AND THIRD WIN
After posting a 39.450, Korth won her third all-around crown in her third
event in the win over No. 11 Auburn. Korth posted a 39.450, while taking two
individual wins. She put up an impressive 9.950 on floor and 9.875 on bars for
the crowns. She also posted a 9.850 on the beam and 9.775 on the vault.
TOP 10 IN THREE EVENTS
Kentucky sits in the top 10 of average score on floor, beam and bars. The
best is on the floor, where the Cats average an impressive 49.208, good for No.
5 in the country. On the beam, Kentucky is No. 8 at 49.125 and on the beam they
are tied for 10th with an average score of 49.117.
NO. 15 IN THE ALL-AROUND
Freshman Mollie Korth currently sits at No. 15 in average all-around
score at 39.367. Sophomore Sidney Dukes and sophomore Alex Hyland also appear
in the top 30. Dukes sits at No. 24 with an average score of 39.267, while
Hyland is tied for No. 30 with an average score of 39.200.
STELLAR FLOOR ROUTINES
When the Cats took on No. 11 Auburn, UK had a phenomenal performance on
the floor. No Wildcat posted below a 9.800, and UK was led by freshman Mollie
Korth who posted a 9.950. Sophomore Sidney Dukes followed with a career best
score of a 9.925. The cats as a team posted a 49.525.
