Team Records and Series Notes

– Matthew Mitchell is in his 10th season with Kentucky. Mitchell improves to 263-124 overall as a head coach, including 233-95 during his 10 seasons at Kentucky.
– Mitchell improves to 11-3 against Auburn. 
– Auburn still leads the all-time series 26-21, including a 12-8 advantage in Auburn.
– UK has now won four of the last five meetings in Auburn but it marks the Cats’ first since 2014 (73-71).
– UK has now won four straight SEC games.
– Kentucky returns to the friendly confines of Memorial Coliseum for its next SEC matchup vs. Ole Miss on Thursday, Jan. 26. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network + with Christi Thomas and Jeff Piecoro calling the action. The game also will be broadcast live on the UK Sports Network with Neil Price.

Team Notes

– Kentucky used the starting five of Makayla Epps, Evelyn Akhator, Maci Morris, Alyssa Rice and Taylor Murray. 
o UK is now 11-4 this season with that starting-five combination.
– With today’s win, UK improves to 14-6 overall this season.
o UK is now 5-2 in Southeastern Conference games.
– UK is now 3-5 overall in games decided by 10 points or less this season, 2-2 in SEC play.
– UK is now 3-2 in games decided by five points or less, 2-0 in SEC play.
– Auburn opened the game on a 4-0 run before UK reeled off seven straight points. The Cats ended the first quarter with a 19-14 lead.
– UK led by as many as eight points (26-18) in the second quarter before Auburn hit back-to-back 3s to pull within three. Auburn outscored the Wildcats 12-10 in the second quarter, but UK held on for a 29-26 lead at the break.
o UK is now 13-1 overall, 5-0 in league play when leading at the half this season.
– The Wildcats hit 7-of-10 free throws in the third quarter and trailed by one, 45-44, entering the final stanza. 
– With the score tied at 58 apiece and just one minute remaining in the game, Makayla Epps gave the Cats a 61-58 lead on an old-fashioned three-point play. Auburn battled back and pulled within one, 61-60, before Maci Morris hit a crucial layup with 16 seconds left, and then hit one of two free throws in the final seconds to seal the four-point win.
– UK shot 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the field in the fourth quarter, while holding Auburn to just 28.6 percent (4-of-14).
– Auburn’s full-court, trapping press caused the Cats to commit 19 turnovers, the most in SEC play this season. The Tigers turned those miscues into 23 points.
– UK shot 46.6 percent (22-of-48) from the field and held AU to 37 percent (22-of-59).
– Kentucky won the rebounding battle 33-31 and but were out-scored in points in the paint 28-22.

Individual Notes

– Maci Morris led UK with 18 points, her 12th game this season in double digits and first since scoring 11 vs. Missouri on Jan. 5.
o She hit a season-high four 3-pointers.
o Morris grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, all defensive boards.
o Morris scored the final three points in the four-point win.
– Makayla Epps scored 17 points, including 13 in the decisive second half.
o She grabbed seven rebounds, her second-highest rebounding total of the season. She had a career-high 16 boards at Louisville.
o She hit a season-high tying two 3-pointers.
o She now has 1,534 career points which ranks eighth on UK’s all-time scoring list.
o With four assists today, Epps now has 366 career assists and needs just one more to move up to No. 8 on UK’s all-time list with Tracye Davis (367).
– Taylor Murray added 14 points and a season-high tying five assists, along with three steals.
o The sophomore scored in double digits for the 12th time this season and the 22nd of her career.
o It marked her third straight SEC game in double-figure scoring.
