LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kianna Gray ran the fastest 200-meter dash time by any collegian in the country this early indoor season to highlight the first day of the Rod McCravy Memorial Track and Field Meet on Friday inside Nutter Field House.

Gray won the first of 16 sections in an indoor personal best 23.17. The time placed the sophomore outdoor All-America in second place all-time on the UK indoor performers’ list, behind only two-time NCAA 200m Champion Dezerea Bryant.

Tim Duckworth cleared a high-jump personal best height of 7’0.5”/2.15m on his second attempt to place second overall. Xaivier McAllister cleared the same height on his third attempt to take third place. Justin Kretchmer was fourth.

Olivia Gruver tied her absolute PR and set a new UK indoor pole vault record clearing 14’1.25”/4.30m to place second to Baylor’s Big 12 Champion vaulter.

Cameron Short started the day for the Wildcats in the men’s heptathlon, and leads through four events with 3121 points. He won the heptathlon high jump with a clearance at 6’7.5”/2.02m. The hept will continue Saturday at 60m hurdles at 10 a.m. ET.

Brandi Walker tossed a PR weight throw 63’9”/19.43m to move into the No. 3 spot on the UK all-time performers’ list.

Mohammed Abubakar placed third in his UK debut with a long jump mark of 24’11”/7.59m

Kentucky alumnus Andy Fryman won the weight throw with a mark of 69’3”/21.11m. David Cline was sixth and Logan Bryer was eighth.

UK volunteer assistant coach and Jordan Brand professional placed second to Gray in the 200m running a PR 23.63. Carter is a 400m hurdles specialist so one could surmise that she’s improved her footspeed this offseason. Javianne Oliver was sixth in 23.86.

Mick Iacofano placed second in the 5k with a time of 14:55.12.
