– Matthew Mitchell is in his 10th season with Kentucky. Mitchell improves to 262-124 overall as a head coach, including 232-95 during his tenure at Kentucky. 

– Tonight’s win marks UK’s third straight over LSU but first win in Baton Rouge since 2010.

– UK has now won three straight SEC games.

– The win snapped a three-game losing skid to the Lady Tigers in Baton Rouge.

o LSU still leads the all-time series 32-15, including 14-4 advantage in Baton Rouge.

– Kentucky remains on the road for a matchup Sunday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. ET at Auburn. The game will be televised live on the SEC Network and will be broadcast live on the UK Sports Radio Network in Lexington on 630AM WLAP.

– Kentucky used the starting five of Makayla Epps, Evelyn Akhator, Maci Morris, Alyssa Rice and Taylor Murray. 

o UK is 10-4 this season with that starting-five combination.

o Tonight marked the largest margin of victory over LSU since also winning by 13 in 2013 (73-60).

– Kentucky opened the game on a 12-0 run, paced by six points from senior Evelyn Akhator.

– The Wildcats held LSU to just six points in the opening quarter, closing the period with a 17-6 lead.

o This was the 14th quarter Kentucky has held an opponent to single-digit scoring this season.

o UK held the Lady Tigers to 23 percent shooting (3-of-13) in the period.

o LSU’s six points marked its lowest-scoring quarter of the season.

– In the last three games, UK has held its opponents to just 19 points combined in the first quarter.

– LSU outscored the Wildcats 10-6 in the second quarter but UK held on for a 23-16 lead at the break.

o LSU’s 16 first-half points marked its lowest scoring half of the season.

– The Wildcats came back to outscore LSU 19-10 in the third quarter for a 42-26 lead. 

– LSU outscored the Wildcats 16-13, but UK would hang on for its third-straight conference win.

– UK shot 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the field, while holding LSU to 32.7 percent (18-of-55).

– Kentucky won the rebounding battle 45-30 and out-scored the Lady Tigers in the paint 40-22.

– UK held LSU to a season-low 42 points. The Lady Tigers previous low was 48 at No. 5 Mississippi State on Jan. 1.

– Evelyn Akhator led all scorers with 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds.

o Akhator had 10 points in the first half on 5-of-7 shooting.

o It marked her 11th double-double of the season and third in a row.

o Akhator’s 24 career double-doubles is in sole possession of fourth in UK history in the category.

o Tonight was her fifth 20-point game of the season, the seventh in her career and fourth in a row. 

o Akhator is the first UK player to score 20 or more points in four straight games since Makayla Epps accomplish the feat in January of last season. 

o Akhator has three straight games of 20 or more points and 10 or more rebounds. She is the first UK player to accomplish that feat since Leslie Nichols in 1984. 

– Taylor Murray posted 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for her first career double-double. She also added a game-high five assists and three steals.

o The sophomore scored in double digits for the 11th time this season and the 21st of her career.

o It mark third first time UK has had more than one player with a double-double in the same game since Evelyn Akhator (10 pts/14 rbs) and Alexis Jennings (12 pts/10 rbs) vs. Washington on March 25, 2016.

– Makayla Epps added nine points to go along with six rebounds, her second-highest rebounding total of the season. She had a career-high 16 boards at Louisville.

o She now has 1,517 career points which ranks eighth on UK’s all-time scoring list.

– Maci Morris had eight points, three rebounds, two steals and a season-high tying two blocks.
