No. 5 UK Rifle Travels to Murray State for Withrow Invitational
MURRAY, Ky. – The fifth-ranked Kentucky rifle team will stay in the Bluegrass at the Withrow Invitational on Friday on the Murray State campus. The match is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET inside the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range.
The Wildcats last competed in the invitational during the 2014-15 season and came away with a second place finish after firing 4679 as a team. Murray State finished in first with a 4687 aggregate.
This year’s field is packed with some of the nation’s most elite talent, including host and third-ranked Murray State, No. 9 North Carolina State, No. 11 Memphis, No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 14 Jacksonville State, No. 20 North Georgia, and Alabama-Birmingham.
Kentucky is 13-3 overall and undefeated at 6-0 in the Great American Rifle Conference.
In their last competition, the Wildcats picked up two wins against ranked opponents after they defeated Memphis and Ole Miss this past weekend.
Heather Kirby has led the way recently for Kentucky, boasting a 594.67 air rifle average that ranks fourth in the country. The senior also holds an 1171.23 aggregate average.
