Team Records and Series Notes

– Matthew Mitchell is in his 10th season with Kentucky. Mitchell is 259-124 overall as a head coach and 229-95 during his tenure at Kentucky. 
– With today’s victory, Kentucky improves to 17-36 in the all-time series against the Lady Bulldogs.
o Kentucky has won the last three against Georgia including a 64-53 victory in Athens last season. 
– Kentucky will return to action Thursday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET, when the Wildcats head to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ and will be broadcast live on the UK Sports Radio Network in Lexington on 630AM WLAP.

Team Notes

– Kentucky used the starting five of Makayla Epps, Evelyn Akhator, Maci Morris, Alyssa Rice and Taylor Murray. 
o UK is 9-4 this season with that starting-five combination.
– With today’s win, UK improves to 12-6 overall this season.
o UK is now 3-2 in Southeastern Conference games.
– Senior post Evelyn Akhator provided the spark in the opening possessions, scoring the first four points of the contest and getting a huge block on the defensive end.
o Including six points from Akhator, the Wildcats opened the game on a 9-0 run.
– The Wildcats held Georgia to just four points in the opening quarter, closing the period with a 23-4 lead.
o This was the 13th quarter Kentucky has held an opponent to single-digit scoring this season.
o UK used three blocks and 11 defensive rebounds to hold the Lady Bulldogs to just 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) shooting in the period.
o Georgia’s four points marked its lowest-scoring quarter of the season.
– Kentucky closed the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 44-14 lead.
o UGA’s 14 first-half points tied Kentucky’s ties UK’s lowest opponent total in a half this season (vs. Radford, 12/18/16).
o The last time Kentucky held an SEC opponent to 20 points or fewer in a first half was Feb. 14, 2016 when the Wildcats held Vanderbilt to just 19 points.
o Georgia’s 14 first-half points marked its lowest scoring half of the season.
– The Wildcats were out-scored 26-21 in the third quarter as Georgia shot 10-of-13 (76.9 percent) from the field in the period, but Kentucky held onto a 65-40 lead.
– Kentucky had its highest number of assists in SEC action this season with 18 dimes.
– The Wildcats bested its largest margin of victory in conference games this season, winning by 21 points.
o Its previous high was 17 points over Alabama on Thursday.
– UK shot 51.7 percent (30-of-58) from the field in today’s game, marking the first time the Wildcats had shot better than 50 percent in an SEC game since Feb. 7, 2016 when Kentucky went 27-of-50 (54 percent) from the field against LSU.
– Kentucky won the battle in almost every category in today’s contest including out-rebounding UGA 38-28, out-scoring them in the paint 36-26 and capitalizing on turnovers with 24 points off turnovers to UGA’s 11.

Individual Notes

– Evelyn Akhator led all scorers with 24 points to go along with a season-high 16 rebounds.
o Akhator added 10 points alone in the first quarter on 5-of-7 shooting.
o The senior secured her 10th double-double by the end of the first half with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
o Akhator’s 23 career double-doubles puts her in sole possession of 4th in UK history in the category.
– Taylor Murray posted 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal.
o The sophomore scored in double-digits for the 10th time this season and the 20th of her career.
– Makayla Epps added 13 points and a game-high 6 assists.
o With tonight’s performance, her career scoring total climbs to 1,508 points which ranks 8th in UK history.
– Makenzie Cann poured in three 3-pointers for the second consecutive game to add 11 points.
o It was the first time Cann has posted double-figure scoring since Dec. 18 against Radford.
o Cann also had five rebounds and three assists.
– Jaida Roper tied her career-high scoring mark with seven points.
o The freshman also added two boards and five big assists.
– Maci Morris had seven points, five rebounds, two assists and a season-high two blocks.
