Meet the Wildcats: Danaea Davis

In preparation for the upcoming season, UKathletics.com presents “Meet the Wildcats,” an opportunity for you to get to know a little more about the 2017 Kentucky Gymnastics team. Today’s Meet the Wildcats features sophomore Danaea Davis.

Danaea Davis, a sophomore, competed in six meets for the Wildcats as a freshman. She specialized in the vault and scored a season-best 9.825 against Florida, helping UK set the third highest team score in program history.

Here’s a bit more on Danaea:

Birthplace: Pensacola, Florida.

I chose Kentucky because … As a military brat who was raised all over, Kentucky is unlike any place I have ever lived.

My goals this season are … Have a healthy season and I would like to finish the season strong. I want to contribute as much as I can as a teammate and athlete to the team. 

I’m most looking forward to our meet with _____ … Maryland because that is home for me and I have a lot of friends and family coming

I try to model my competition style most after … Shannon Mitchell because of her presentation and huge vaults. 

My role model in gymnastics is… Carson Tubiolo.

My most memorable moment as a gymnast was … My last competition with my Hawaii coach at 2011 J.O. Nationals. I had the best meet of my career that year with him.

My favorite book is …  Diary of Anne Frank

My pre-meet superstition is … Listening to the same pre-meet playlist.

If I had a derby horse I would name it … Rango.

Growing up, my celebrity crush was …  Channing Tatum

My favorite food is … Chinese food

My dream job is to be …. A physical therapist 

My TV show is … Empire.

The best concert I have ever been to …  Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z

My favorite movie … Burlesque

The Wildcats kick off the 2017 season at Eastern Michigan on Friday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. at Eastern Michigan.
