– Matthew Mitchell is in his 10th season with Kentucky. Mitchell is 252-119 overall as a head coach and 222-90 during his tenure at Kentucky. 

– The Wildcats moved up to No. 15 in the latest Associated Press Top 25, while it stayed at No. 19 in the USA Today/Coaches Top 25. The Wildcats have been ranked for a school-record 134 straight weeks.

– Kentucky now shares a 1-1 record with the Buffaloes. The first meeting came last season in Memorial Coliseum when the Wildcats defeated Colorado, 86-61.

– Kentucky will return to action Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. ET, when the Wildcats host Morehead State inside Memorial Coliseum. The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network+ and on the UK Sports Radio Network in Lexington on 630AM WLAP.

 

– Kentucky used the starting five of Makayla Epps, Evelyn Akhator, Maci Morris, Alyssa Rice and Taylor Murray. 

o UK is 3-1 this season with that starting-five combination. 

– Tonight’s loss brings UK’s record to 3-1 overall.

– Kentucky is 5-8 all-time against the current alignment of the Pac-12 Conference. 

o UK is scheduled to play two more teams from the Pac-12 in highly ranked Arizona State at Rupp Arena (Dec. 11) and Washington State at Memorial Coliseum (Dec. 21).

– In the Mitchell era, Kentucky is 22-14 in regular season non-conference games on the road.

o Last season, the Wildcats went 3-0 in regular season non-conference road contests.

– After Kentucky got off to an early 12-4 lead, the Buffaloes went on a 7-0 run to end the first quarter and the Wildcats led by just one point, 12-11.

– With just under a minute left to play in the first half, Kentucky would relinquish its lead with a 3-pointer from CU, tying things up at 33-33. 

o A layup from Colorado guard Kennedy Leonard would give CU the lead, and the Wildcats would not lead again.

– UK trailed at halftime for the first time this season, 37-35.

– Kentucky trailed by its largest deficit of the season, as Colorado took a 75-60 lead in the middle of the fourth quarter.

– Under Mitchell, Kentucky teams are now 44-67 when trailing at the half.

– Kentucky struggled on the defensive end, as Colorado grabbed 18 offensive rebounds to earn 22 second-chance points.

– Kentucky had four players post double-digit scoring performances, with three earning 14 points for a team high.

– UK recorded 17 turnovers in the game, while Colorado only committed six.

– Evelyn Akhator ended the game with 12 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. 

o Akhator now has 17 double-doubles in her career, which is the sixth most in program history. 

o This is also the fifth consecutive double-double for Akhator, dating back to her performance in the NCAA Tournament against Washington (03/25/16). It also marks the first time she’s had five consecutive double-doubles.

– Makayla Epps scored 14 points in the contest to go along with four assists.

o With tonight’s performance, her career-points total climbs to 1,272.

o Epps needs 161 points (1,433 total) to enter Kentucky’s top-10 scorers in school history. 

– Taylor Murray posted 14 points, six rebounds and two assists in the contest.  

o Murray’s 14 points marks her first double-digit scoring performance of the season, and also ties her career-high points total (vs. Auburn, 01/17/16)

o Her six rebounds are also a career high for the sophomore.

– Maci Morris also posted 14 points and four rebounds in the contest.

o Morris went 3-of-6 from 3. 

o Morris made 3-of-5 of the team’s 3-pointers in the game.

– Makenzie Cann added five points and three rebounds.

o This was Cann’s fourth appearance for UK. She sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules after transferring from Cincinnati. 

– Alyssa Rice scored six points to go along with four rebounds.

– Jaida Roper had four points and one rebound in the outing.

o Roper’s four points sets a career high for the freshman.
