Kentucky Closes 2016 With Home Match vs. Georgia
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the final time in 2016,
the Kentucky women’s soccer team will play under the lights at the Wendell
& Vickie Bell Soccer Complex on Thursday night as the Wildcats host the
Georgia Bulldogs on Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be shown live
on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app. Neil Price (pxp) and Stuart
Pope (color) will have the call live from Lexington.
Senior Night festivities will begin on the
field at approximately 7:15 p.m. ET, where the seven graduating seniors will be
honored with a pre-match ceremony and video. The outgoing senior class includes
captains Alex Carter and Kaitlin Miller in addition to Laura Connor, Ayanna
Parker, Michaela Dooley, Jade Klump and Zoe Swift.
Kentucky got a season-defining win on Sunday,
defeating the No. 9 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks on the road in Fayetteville,
2-1, just two days after it had been eliminated from Southeastern Conference
Tournament contention. The Wildcats got a goal in each half by Kaitlin Miller
and Zoe Swift to claim their first top-10 road win since the 2013 season.
After the head injury to starting goalkeeper
Evangeline Soucie on Thursday night at Texas A&M, senior keeper Ayanna
Parker earned her second career SEC start on Sunday, making a career high five
saves and standing on her head in the final five minutes to preserve the
Wildcats’ first SEC win of the season.
Georgia has also been eliminated from SEC
Tournament contention, and is 5-11-1 on the year.
