Men’s Golf Stays in Bluegrass State for Kenny Perry Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s golf team will stay in the Bluegrass State as it returns to the course this week for the Kenny Perry Invitational. The former PGA Tour pro’s tournament will be held at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Oct. 10-11.
What Head Coach Brian Craig is saying:
“We can’t wait to get to Olde Stone. It is an incredible golf course. It is also good for our guys to compete in the great Commonwealth of Kentucky. We are ready to go give our best effort and see if we can improve on last week’s performance.”
About the lineup:
The starting lineup will feature sophomore Fred Allen Meyer, juniors Tyler “Chip” McDaniel, Evan Cox, and Cooper Musselman, and senior Stephen Stallings.
Sophomore Fadhli Soetarso and freshman Allen Hamilton will compete as individuals.
McDaniel enters the tournament after earning his first top-three finish of the season at the Bearcat Invitational at Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, last week. On the final day of competition, the junior carded the lowest round of any golfer on the course with a four-under, 67, which is the team-low 18-hole score for the season. McDaniel holds a 71.8 scoring average through five rounds this season.
Stallings also played his best golf of the season last week after carding a career-best seventh-place finish. That was his second top-20 finish of the season. The senior leads the team in scoring average at 71.6 and holds a low round of 70 on the season.
Musselman posted his second top-20 finish of the season last week, ninth of his career, and finished at 6-over par for the event. His best finish came at Wolf Run at the beginning of the season, where he also fired his season-low score, 71. Musselman played in both events this season and owns a 72.6 scoring average, third on the team.
Cox has one top-20 finish on the season which he picked up two weeks ago. He finished in 30th place last week with a 22,2 54-hole score. The junior transfer has also competed in both events for the Wildcats this season with a 73.6 scoring average.
Meyer looks to replicate his performance from the first week of the season after firing a career-low 69 on the first round of the year. Last week the sophomore finished in the top-40, but has one top-20 finish this season.
Soetarso is back in the field as an individual this week. In his last action, he posted a 73 and finished in a tie for 23rd place at Wolf Run. Hamilton is also coming off the first event of his career, as he averaged 76.7 through three rounds and finished tied for 51st at the Bearcat Invitational.
