Kentucky Heads to Music City for Fixture with Vandy

Match Notes

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will continue its
quest for its first Southeastern Conference win of the season on Sunday
afternoon in Nashville, as the Wildcats travel south to face the Vanderbilt Commodores
for a 2 p.m. ET fixture at the Vanderbilt Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The match
will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The Wildcats dropped another tight one-goal
affair with a top-20 team on Thursday night in Lexington, as the No. 18 Auburn
Tigers scored two unanswered goals to come from behind and top UK, 2-1. The
Wildcats got a goal on 13 minutes from freshman Marissa Bosco on her second tally
of the season to put UK on the board first for the second match in a row.

The Wildcats now sit at 4-7-2 overall on the
2016 season, and at 0-5-1 in the SEC on one point in the league table. There
are five SEC matches remaining in the season, with three of UK’s final six
matches coming against top-20 teams.

UK has played well against the Commodores in
recent meetings with VU, having won four of the last five meetings, with the
other coming as a scoreless draw a year ago in Lexington. Kentucky has won two
in a row over VU in Nashville, winning 4-2 in 2011 and 2-1 in 2013. The two teams
did not meet in 2014.

The Commodores are 8-5-0 on the season and
suffered just their second conference loss to Arkansas on Thursday night, who
is sitting atop the SEC table on a perfect 18 points. Vandy is led by second
year head coach Darren Ambrose, who has turned the Commodores around in just
his second season in charge. In SEC play, Vandy has wins against Tennessee,
LSU, Texas A&M and Mississippi State – with two of those coming on the
road. Grace Jackson is the leading goal scorer for VU with five goals on the
season and six points to go along with it. The keeper for the ‘Dores is Kaitlyn
Fahrner, who has a 1.09 GAA and 56 saves on the year.
