Bushamuka and Matsumura Head to Tulsa for ITA Men’s All-American Championships
TULSA,
Okla. – The 2016 Saint Francis Helath System ITA Men’s All-American
Championships gets under way on Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Michael D. Case Tennis
Center on the Campus of the University of Tulsa. Kentucky men’s tennis will be
represented by junior William Bushamuka and sophomore Ryotaro Matsumura.
Matsumura
opened the season ranked No. 28 in singles and will face Herkko Pollanen of
Ohio State at 11: 30 a.m. ET. Matsumura went 7-3 in Southeastern Conference matches
last year, and fell in the first round of the NCAA Singles Tournament to the
eventual NCAA singles champion.
Bushamuka
is ranked No. 15 in the country and will face Majed Kilani of Tulsa at 12:30 p.m.
ET. Last year, he earned five wins over ranked opponents during the season and was
named to the All-SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Pre-qualifying
matches began on Oct. 1-2, while Matsumura and Bushamuka earned their way into
the main draw. All matches will be streamed live on FloTennis.com.
The 2016 Saint Francis Health ITA Men’s All-American
Championships span from Oct. 8 – Oct. 12. Live stats and live streaming of
All-American play is available through Streaming Tennis. Following UK men’s
tennis’ play in the All-American Championships, the team will head to
Knoxville, Tenn. To compete in regional play beginning on Thursday, Oct. 20.
