UK Athletics Wins Nine CoSIDA Publications Contest Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK Athletics’ Creative Services, Media Relations and Photography departments have combined to win nine CoSIDA Publications Contest Awards for the 2015-16 season, including five Best in Nation honors. The nine awards are the third most in the country behind Kansas State (13) and Kansas (10).
“These awards serve as recognition of the good work our Creative Services, Media Relations and Photography teams do throughout the year,” Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Jason Schlafer said. “The high-quality publications they create have become an important part of the way our fans and media follow UK Athletics. I want to thank (Senior Director of Creative Services) Craig Hornberger for his leadership and pursuit of excellence in this area.” 
Kentucky’s five Best in Nation awards are the most for the school in 10 years and give UK 17 over that timeframe. UK also received three Best Cover awards, bringing the total over the last decade to 15.
UK’s men’s basketball guide was named Best in Nation for the second year in a row. The guide was designed by Creative Director Brandon Kolditz and compiled by Associate Director of Media Relations Eric Lindsey and Assistant Director of Media Relations Deb Moore.
UK’s men’s basketball poster was also recognized as Best in Nation, the second time in the last six years the poster has been recognized as such. The poster was created by Hornberger, Lindsey and Moore with photography by Chet White.
The Kentucky baseball guide won the award for Best in Nation in the Single Sport Guide category. It was designed by Kolditz and compiled by Brent Ingram with photography by UK Sports Photography. The baseball guide was also recognized for Best Cover.
Kentucky’s gymnastics program finished second in the nation in the Single Sports Programs category. The program was designed by Assistant Creative Director Matt Taylor and compiled by Media Relations Assistant Steve Sommer with photography by White.
UK’s softball program was awarded with Best Cover in the Single Sports Programs category. The cover was created by Taylor and Assistant Director of Media Relations Chris Shoals with photography by UK Sports Photography.
Kentucky’s women’s golf guide won Best in Nation in the Spring At-Large Guides category. The guide was designed by Kolditz and compiled by Lindsey with photography by UK Sports Photography. The women’s golf guide also won Best Cover in the same category.
Submitted in the Special Events – University category, the Kentucky Athletics Annual Report was named Best in Nation. The Annual Report was designed by Hornberger and compiled by Director of Strategic Communications Guy Ramsey and UK Athletics External Operations. The Kentucky Athletics Annual Report has finished in the top two nationally in this category in back-to-back years.
