Share
Kentucky head coach John Calipari has a new camp for the summer of 2016, and he has a former UK sharpshooter to help him lead it.
On July 30, Coach Cal will host the first John Calipari Shooting Camp, featuring Devin Booker. The camp will be broken up into two sessions with session one going from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and the second session beginning at 1:30 p.m. and going until 5:00 p.m. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-13.
The John Calipari Shooting Camp featuring Devin Booker is 3.5 hours long and will consist of advanced drills geared to better each camper’s shooting skills as the game progresses more and more toward that aspect of the game. Campers will be pre-assigned to appropriate age/grade level divisions in which all skills work, competitions and games will take place. Skills work will be taught by UK coaches and staff, along with current and former Wildcat players. Each camper will be assigned a team within their respective age groups. Complete camp itineraries, gym schedules, and day camper drop-off and pick-up information will be included in the confirmation email sent to parents prior to the start of camp. Parents are encouraged to visit any of the gym sites to watch their children participate in camp activities.
The cost of the camp is $80 and will be located at the Joe Craft Center on the University of Kentucky campus.
Booker, an NBA All-Rookie First Team selection this past season, averaged 13.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game with the Phoenix Suns. Despite being the youngest player in the league, the sharpshooter placed third in the 3-Point Contest during the NBA’s All-Star Game festivities, finishing behind only Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Booker used the confidence gained from that performance to average 19.2 points, 4.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game after the All-Star break.
A limited number of spots are available for both sessions and are based on a first-come, first-served basis, with online registration recommended as the fastest and most efficient form of registering campers.
