- Senior right-hander Dustin Beggs made his 14th start of the season. He pitched eight shutout innings, allowing six hits – all singles – while striking out six and walking two. He also helped his cause by picking off two runners at first base.
* With the win, Beggs improved his record to 9-2. He is tied with Corey Littrell (2012) for sixth place on the UK single-season wins list.
* In his two seasons with the Wildcats, Beggs is now 16-6. His 16 victories are tied for 17th on the UK career wins list. However, among players who have been at UK only two seasons, Beggs is second in total wins.
- Freshman reliever Sean Hjelle came on in the ninth and allowed a run but retired the Tigers to get his eighth save of the season.
* Hjelle’s eight saves are tied for third on the UK single-season list.
* The eight saves ties Paul Morse (1993) for most ever by a Wildcat freshman.
* Although he’s only a freshman, Hjelle’s eight saves ties him for 11th place on the UK career list.
- Kentucky manufactured two runs in the sixth inning. With two outs, Zach Reks and JaVon Shelby reached on infield singles. Riley Mahan singled through the right side, scoring Reks and leaving runners on the corners. Then, the Wildcats executed the double steal, with Mahan taking second and Shelby streaking home, barely beating the return throw from second base to score the second run.
- Junior left fielder Zach Reks singled in the sixth inning.
* It extended his hitting streak to a season-long 10 games.
- Sophomore first baseman Evan White singled in the third inning.
* It extended White’s current hitting streak to 13 games. It is his second double-digit hit streak of the season as he had a 21-game string from March 4 to April 3.
* He added a single in the eighth inning, giving him a team-high 23 multiple-hit games this season.
