Kendra Harrison Runs Fastest 100H Opener in History

ATHENS, Ga. – Kentucky track and field alumnae Kendra Harrison opened her 2016 outdoor season faster than any sprint hurdler has ever begun a season on Friday at Georgia’s Spec Towns Invitational.

Harrison ran an astonishing 100-meter hurdles time of 12.36 (+1.4), which is the fastest season-opening time in history per Track and Field News. 

Easy enough to figure out as the time ranks No. 5 in American history and No. 9 on the 100m hurdles all-time list.

Harrison’s prior wind-legal personal-best was a 12.50 in a Southeastern Conference Championships performance. She ran 12.46w (+2.3) in the first round at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships last season.

The time is of course the early-season world leader.

Harrison had last competed at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March, where she advanced to the 60m hurdles final two weeks after claiming her second USATF Silver Medal.
