Kentucky Set for Week at Georgia’s Spec Towns Track

ATHENS, Ga. – A week after a three-day meet at Florida, Kentucky will spend the back end of this week at Georgia’s Spec Towns Track.

Cameron Short and Tim Duckworth are competing at the Bulldog Decathlon, which will conclude on Thursday.

Short sits in fifth place after day one with 4028 points. Duckworth is sixth on 2998 points.

Short recorded personal bests in the shot put and 400 meters, and cleared a new best high jump clearance during his time at UK by a half-inch at 6’10.25”/2.09m.

Duckworth produced PRs in the shot put by more than eight feet, in the long jump by 5.5 inches and in the 400m. He also ran wind-aided PR in the 100m.

Forty-nine more Wildcats will compete in the open events at the Spec Towns Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Wildcats are coming off arguably their best meet of the season across the board. Kentucky set three school records and four freshman records, won three relays and recorded a bunch of nationally elite marks last weekend at the Florida Relays.

Kentucky’s women’s team remained No. 9 in this week’s national rankings.

Kentucky track and field’s Kianna Gray was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.

Gray is the second Wildcat to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors through three weeks of the outdoor season. Jasmine Quinn earned the accolade on March 22, after she ran a 13.01 100m hurdles, which remains the nation-leading time.
