Snyder Leads Wildcats Following Round One at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. – Senior David Snyder and freshman Lukas Euler led the Kentucky men’s golf team as it finished the opening round of play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday. As a team, Kentucky is in 14th place following the opening 18 holes of the three-day, 54-hole tournament. Snyder led the team with an even, 72, and sits in a tie for 23rd overall individually. Euler posted a 2-over par, 74, and is tied for 38th.
About the Lineup:
Snyder had an even round of play following day one at Bulls Bay, charting a birdie on the opening nine and finishing the round with a score of 72. The senior looks to replicate his success last year at the Hootie Intercollegiate where he finished in fourth place individually. He currently sits in a tie for 23rd amongst his competitors.
Euler had a strong first start of the spring season, finishing the first round of play with a 2-over, 74. The freshman opened the day with two birdies on the first four holes, and is currently sitting at a tie for 38th on the individual leaderboard.
Junior Stephen Stallings had a successful opening nine holes, charting an eagle on the par-5, No. 4 and is currently 3-over, 75, and in a tie for 46th. Only four other competitors charted an eagle during the first round at Bulls Bay.
Sophomores Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel and Cooper Musselman are currently tied for 68th, and 71st, respectively. McDaniel finished the first round with a 7-over, 79, and Musselman with an 8-over, 80.
The Tournament Field:
The opening 18 holes saw only four teams with an under-par score. Charleston Southern leads the way with a 15-under score. Taylor Zoller leads the individual leaderboard after the first round with an 8-under, 64.
No. 16 South Carolina registered an 11-under score, which was good for second place. No. 10 Wake Forest is tied for third with Missouri, both at 4-under. No. 20 Duke rounds out the top five following a 1-over opening day score.
About the course:
Bulls Bay Golf Club will be home to the Hootie Intercollegiate again this year. The picturesque course has played host to the Hootie Intercollegiate since its start in 2004. Kentucky returns to the tournament for the 12th consecutive season after finishing in a tie for 12th in 2015.
Players will tee off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET on Monday for the second round of the 54-hole event. Teams will be paired based on the results from the first two rounds and will play 18 holes every day, concluding on Tuesday. Fans can follow along with the action on www.golfstat.com.
